  • Preexisting collection management tools lacked robust financial data or cross-category support.

  • Conceptualized Collection as a hub for collectors to manage and showcase their collectibles.

  • Drove Collection's conceptualization, design, development, and launch process.

  • Achieved 130k users and over 10m uploaded items within nine months.

What was the vision?

  • Build a collection and portfolio management platform for everything users own to enable eBay users to track the value of, manage, and organize their collection.

  • Provide users with an in-ecosystem platform to engage with their hobbies, rather than directing them to hobbyist sites and social media.

  • Leverage eBay prodigious sales data to drive price estimates and forecasts.

What launched?

  • Launched to US users with support nine trading card sub-categories.

  • Available on iOS, Android, and dWeb.

  • Launched with the following features:

    • Aggregate and item-level price guidance

    • Auto-onboarding of relevant past purchases

    • Manual item addition and deletion

    • File uploader

    • In-experience selling integration​

What was my role?

  • Originated and articulated the vision for Collection.

  • Articulated Collection's roadmap and associated deliverables.

  • Convinced eBay leadership to shift company priorities and resources to accelerate development.

  • Prototyped and tested early iterations with internal and external users.

  • Spearheaded technical tradeoff analyses and resourcing dicussions.

  • Orchestrated and conducted internal dogfooding ahead of launch.

  • Developed Collection's go-to-market strategy.

  • Coordinated and led the launch of Collection across four separate development teams.

  • Accumulated and synthesized user feedback to inform future iterations.

What was the impact?

  • Collection laid the groundwork for eBay Vault. It was designed as the digital home for items user had stored in eBay's physical vault.

  • Nine months following launch, the platform:

    • Achieved 130k users

    • Averaged 14k monthly new users

    • Exceeded 10m item uploads
